SK TTDI Jaya and SMK Seksyen 19 Retain Title in 6th F&N Beverages & MBSA Recycling Campaign

SHAH ALAM – Defending champions S.K. TTDI Jaya were once again crowned champions in the primary school category for the forth consecutive year to take home the cash prize of RM1,500 for the haul of 8,154.7kg of recyclable items. The school also clinched the Special Award of RM600 for accumulating the highest amount of plastic collecting an impressive 41 per cent of the total plastic collected among all schools (primary & secondary).

S.K. Bukit Rimau also returned as runner-up with 5,872.5kg collected to take home RM1,300, while S.K. Alam Megah 2 who gathered 3,541.5kg moved up to third spot this year to win RM1,200. Rounding out the top five were S.K. Bukit Naga with 1,570.5kg at fourth place and S.K. Alam Megah 3 with 1,193kg at fifth place receiving RM1,100 and RM1,000 respectively.

In the secondary schools category, defending champions S.M.K. Seksyen 19 were once again in a league of their own with their collection of a whopping 14,463kg to clinch the champions trophy for the second consecutive year to take home the RM1,500 cash prize.

S.M.K Seksyen 7 who finished in ninth place last year, proved to be the dark horse of the competition by stealthily sweeping through and claiming the runner-up spot with a collection of 7,758kg, to knock off S.M.K Alam Megah 2 to third place with 6,935.5kg of recyclables collected. The efforts earned them RM1,300 and RM1,200 respectively.

S.M.K Seksyen 18 returned to the top five this year with 4,042kg to be placed at fourth earning RM1,100, and S.M.K Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah managed to keep their fifth place position taking home RM1,000. S.M.K Bukit Jelutong was awarded the Special Award with the prize money of RM600 for collecting the highest amount of aluminium.

All schools in sixth to tenth places in both categories also received cash prizes of RM200 each.

The annual Kempen Kitar Semula F&N Beverages & MBSA, now in its sixth year, saw twenty-two schools and the residents of Shah Alam clean up the streets and surroundings to collect a total of 69,409.6kg in recyclable items.

Speaking at the recent prize giving ceremony, Ms. Cariessa Goh, Corporate Affairs Manager of F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, thanked the students, teachers and the Shah Alam residents for their continued efforts in maintaining the success and spirit of this campaign.

“As you are aware, our goal for this campaign has always been to share the message of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and to instil the recycling habit in our children, as well as encourage the neighbouring communities to follow suit. We did so this year by expanding the campaign to include the participation of the Residents Representatives Councils (MPP) under the MBSA while also launching a similar campaign for schools on Penang Island,” she said.

The prizes for the F&N Beverages and MBSA Recycling School Recycling Campaign are provided by F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn. Bhd. Deputy Mayor of Shah Alam, Tuan Mohtar Bin Hani was present to hand out the prizes to the winning schools.
