SMK Tunku Anum Play Down Chances

PENANG (28 Sept 2012) – SMK Tunku Anum of Kedah are playing down their chances in the Minister of Education Under-14 League Cup final against Penang's SMK Mutiara Impian at the City Stadium in Penang tomorrow night.
Exactly a week after the Tunku Anum Under-17 team had defeated their Mutiara Impian counterparts 4-1 to bag the Under-17 title in Alor Setar, the sports school from Jitra’s Under-14 boys has the opportunity to complete a grand double.
Incidentally, Tunku Anum are the only team in the competition's five-year history to have bagged both titles in the same year - a feat they accomplished in 2010.
But Tunku Anum coach Abdul Hadi Salleh said during the pre-final press conference today that the Kedah side are still reeling from the setback of losing their main striker for the final.

"The absence of our top scorer Mohd Firdaus Abdullah, who is suspended for the final, is a big blow to the team,” said Abdul Hadi.
"He has played a pivotal role in getting us to the final. Now, it is up to the rest of the players to carry on the task of ensuring we complete the double again for Tunku Anum.”
Hadi also pointed out that Tunku Anum failed to beat Mutiara Impian twice in the league this year - a 1-0 defeat in Penang was followed by a 0-0 draw in Kedah.
"The two matches were closely fought and I expect another tough encounter in the final. Mutiara Impian are like wounded tigers after losing last week's Under-17 final and will be determined to win in front of their home fans."
SMK Mutiara Impian coach Mohd Rakhi Saad is hoping for lady luck to smile in the school's maiden appearance in the Under-14 final.
"The players have shown great spirit in getting us this far, and I hope they can push one more time to win a historic maiden title for the school and the state," said Rakhi.
Also present at the press conference were Mutiara Impian captain Hidayat Ruzi and his Tunku Anum counterpart Shahrul Akmal.
